Hi i am starting a 5 gallon nano reef in was thinking about getting a sponge for it. Is a 5-gallon too small for a sponge? The main reason I want one is because I hear they eat dissolved organicd which I'm wondering if that includes nitrate and phosphate, and since I don't have a refugium I thought it'd be a great place for the copepods to hide, or would it eat them? Also do you know of any great beginner sponges? I like the orange ball sponge, but I don't know if it's hard to take care of. Would the Organics left over from feeding the fish be enough to feed it or not.

If you’re using live rock , yea , it might donfine. I’d get a photo syntic one first. If it’s a dry rock start up I probably wouldn’t try it.

you can get any sponge as long as you feed the right food for it, good feed for sponges would be Two Little Fishies Marine Snow, their food starts at 0.5 micron and goes up to 150 i recommend you should feed 1 ml every 3 days and if your sponge looks like its dying feed increase feeding
