I keep going back and forth about getting an anemone. My tank has been running for about a year. My perimeters are good. I have two clowns, two blue green chromis, one cleaner shrimp hermit crabs and snails. I don’t want to loose anything to the anemone. I’ve put covers on my power heads. Have a cover on my over flow. Can anyone convince me anemone is worth the risk.

My anemone is 15 years old, it’s never eaten any other tank inhabitants. i don’t even feed it, it just grabs the occasional mysis shrimp.

easy enough to care for, and a great indicator of water quality. The only downside is the space, my wife wants another one, but I don’t want to give up any more space to a second anemone.

Thanks for your input. I’m going to take the plunge and get an anemone. It’s the perfect time. Before I start with corals it can get settled in my tank. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

I'm commenting only bc it's so rare to see a "should I get a nem" thread where the OP has clearly done the research and has a suitable home ready for it. Well done!

It sounds like you've done your research, let your tank mature - sounds like you're ready for one. They are awesome creatures and on one hand you'll enjoy it on the other you have to be observant (it'll keep your attention on your tank for sure)

I started with 2 now have 9 (due to feeding and splitting) BTAs are about the easiest. Good Luck!

Absolutely get one after your tank is about a year old.

My tank is one year old this month. My perimeters have been pretty stable. I have the current USA marine pro system. Just installed 2nd led light. So I think I’ll try the anemone. Thanks for your insight it’s greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that even though you'll be putting an anemone in the tank and then adding corals after it settles, there's still the chance of it moving. In my case it was the splitting that made me start another anemone tank to move them to so I'd have more real estate for corals.
