I have a Jbj 45 that has been running for a year with a 2 inch deep sand bed. I have around 50lbs of live rock, and a cheato reactor with a good pod population. Tank is full of thriving coral and a sixline wrasse. I’ve been battling dinoflagellates since December and am starting to beat them. I churn the sand bed every 2 days to get the brown patches to go away and wanted to get a diamond watchman goby to do it for me. The Dino’s are already identified as large cell amphimidium. Should I get the fish or will it just starve off? The Dino’s aren’t as bad as the picture anymore as that was in December

You should be okay with a diamond goby, will definitely turn your sand and help your dino problem. The goby will eat other food like pellets and frozen food, it will not starve because of your dino problem.

You might have issues with it dropping sand on corals.

do you have a conch? i have a similar dimension tank and had that stuff on my sand, got a conch and all was well within a day or so. unless you just really want the goby

has the sixline been in there alone for a year? from what i've read about those dudes long term, adding any fish may be an issue

I would say no. Why? You have a long established 6 line wrasse who has had the tank all to himself and you are adding a new fish that is fairly easily bullied. I agree with Mattzang that a conch would be a much better choice in this scenario. The 6 line will ignore them and 1-2 of them should easily keep your sandbed clean without creating a sandstorm. *EDIT* I would definitely skip the DWG with Corals in the sand bed. They will definitely get sand all over them with a DWG. Conch snails will likely ignore them and go around them.
