do i need to glue the circled connection? the blue pvc IN the tank to the bulkhead? the outgoing pvc will be glued with unions, valves, etc but should the in side 4 pipes just be dry fit connected or do i glue them?

That isn't a true Bean Animal design for the record but to answer your question you don't have to. Just make sure they are firmly inserted and snug. Nothing loose or wobbly. I used threaded bulkheads though...

You probably already have but if not I'd recommend taking another look at Bean's actual diagram(s). The drain you show in your picture is too low and close to the bottom of your overflow. Not sure why you have it extended like that.
 
I would not glue them either.

That looks like an innovative marine design.
 
Yea it’s a “bean style” from innovative marine. Their reasoning is siphons off some
Ditritus this way. Still have 3 drains and 1 return.

The bulkheads provided are slips
