should i go for a torch finally?

Hi all, wanted some advice on my tank and if yall think it can keep torches they are expensive as heck so i dont wanna find out its not ready the hard way. tanks about a year and a half old, 20 gallon long with a aiblade running at 75% royal blue 65% blue 0% white,two 20 gallon hob filters, a 400 gph wavemaker and the tank is barebottom. nitrates sit pretty stable between 3-5 and phosphate is sticking around 0.05 i do weekly water changes of 5 gallons and run phosphate remover in one of the hob filters (phosbond at half the recommended amount for the tank just helps keep it all in check ime) the possible issue im thinking is gonna be my ph which sits stable at 7.6 and nothing i do will change it for some dang reason, ive tried so much but its just my house and i cant really fix that haha. would a ph of 7.6 melt a torch if other params are good? the tank keeps and grows other lps but i have not tried euphyllia in it.

Sounds like you’re good to go! I’d imagine your ph tester is off if it’s never budged.

I would so go for it! As for the PH, do you have a skimmer? If so get a CO2 scrubber. They are not very expensive and do a great job of keeping PH in check. But they operate thru a Protein Skimmer. The worst thing about your PH levels are that they will slow the growth of corals.

ive done the good old air stone in a cup outside and it reads 7.9 after just a few minutes, so im assuming its actually that low and just a result of low air flow in the basement. we have tried with a couple digital testers and two liquids they all read 7.6 annoyingly. i honestly thought a ph that low would have insane amounts of negative impact on the tank overall but really nothing seems mad at all, ive got nems a small foxface and a pair of clowns in it with a ton of zoas and basically every kind of brain coral you could think of except the ones with four digit price tags haha.

I would so go for it! As for the PH, do you have a skimmer? If so get a CO2 scrubber. They are not very expensive and do a great job of keeping PH in check. But they operate thru a Protein Skimmer. The worst thing about your PH levels are that they will slow the growth of corals.

was debating it, ive heard mixed reviews on them and some people go as far as to claim they are useless on other forums and possibly this one aswell. im thinking of getting a hob skimmer and the co2 scrubber next friday for the tank ill probably go for it and just say if it works it works if not it need a skimmer anyways haha.

Skimmers are an amazing piece of equipment. As for the scrubber, you just hook it up to the air intake, no power. People here will gladly help guide you. Also, yes HOB is fine. I have an excellent HOB skimmer for my 90 gallon. And a small Ice Cap scrubber hooked up to it. Getting the skimmer dialed in where you want takes a little bit, but not bad.

Cool thanks, any special brand of media or scrubber you recommend? I was thinking just going with the brs scrubber and media that’s what my lfs has.

Soda lime on Amazon is the cheapest.. don’t buy the ice cap stuff it never changes color and exhaust fast.
