Hey,

I am about to change my skimmer I have a skimz sm203 and I have not seen the results I wanted to see and am always trying to adjust.

I have a 150 gallon reef and want to spend a max of around $500 less is always better if performance is almost the same brands iam considering right now is Vortex, ASM and Deltec ( though I am having a hard time finding a reliable seller).

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Keep using the same skimmer and add an algae scrubber!! I swear by them they are the silver bullet!!! Skimmer will pull gunk before it turns to nitrates and scrubber will feed off whatever the skimmer missed!
Plus a diy scrubber will cost way less than 500 even if you went all out

That's an interesting thought a ran a scrubber a couple years back and I thought my old curve 7 skimmer did a good job thought I was upgrading with the skimz and haven't been that impressed. Appreciate the suggestion.

Quantum skimmers are pretty nice :)

Think If I am switching narrowing it down to a deltec 1455 or a quantum 160 both are shorter my skimmer needs to be no bigger then 22" tall

I know it isn't on your list, but I love my Reef Octopus nw200! Fits your budget and size. Is a little wide (22" x 11") but is an awesome skimmer.

Thanks I appreciate the suggestion. I am not loyal to anything right now just looking for a good skimmer a good price.looking to put the trigger in the next couple weeks.
