Hey everyone i have a pair of Ocellaris clowns who for the past 3 weeks look like they are ready to lay (cleaning the tile i put in the tank and the adjacent rock dancing around each other) they are constantly carry on but nothing comes of it(no eggs) they are in our main tank but there is nothing aggresive in there ,what could i do to help them finish the deed , i thought maybe some mood music and romantic lighting:tongue: or on a more serious note would shifting them to their own tank help or disturb them to much? Any help will be greatfully accepted

Just a thought, maybe they don't feel that area is "right". I have seen/heard good things about clay pots for clowns.

I wouldn't move them, that would just delay things more. Just give them some more time, I have seen upwards of 2 months pass b/t the first cleaning and of actual egg laying. Though, it wouldn't hurt to increase their feedings. Lastly, don't be shocked if they first batch (( or 2 )) of eggs end up being eaten by them.

Edit --
In addition I have had at least 5 different pair of clowns spawn over the years, they have always been in full tanks with other fish.

As Van Wilder said "Massage oil, scented candles, and Barry White... Write that down"

But sarcasm aside, just let them be. If they are going to lay eggs they will. Just let them be and don't disturb them much.

Thanx peoples for the advice i will put the Barry White cd back in its case then and let the romancing continue on in the tank

live pods, freshly hatched brine, and tiny acclimated guppies are huge growth accelerator for me, and has got mine to lay in the past, it was in the dt, and i was unprepaired to raise the babies, so the eggs got crabbed pretty quick..

If you reallly want, get em a seperate tank and black out the glass so nothing outside the tank startles em. When they lay, net the fish and put em back in the dt and you can raise the fry in that tank
this would not speed up the current rate, but would start the clock over. It would result in an easier time in the long run. Just an idea though.
