I posted this in my build thread but figured I would create a thread here for more exposure. I am thinking of relocating my Rose Milli this weekend. I wasn't thinking and stuck it at the very top and now it is starting to table out and I fear it will shadow out other corals underneath. Thinking of cutting it and relocating it to the bottom so it has room to table without shadowing. What do you all think?

IME Milli's need higher light to keep their color. In the mentioned new location the Mille would eventually grow into neighboring corals. Most likely winning the battle as most milli's do.

So I just experienced with my Tort. It won that battle. Should I just leave it and plan to frag often to keep it small? It is encrusting very well now and a little worried for the Green dragon next to it also. If I had to move it then it would be now before it encrusts too much. Decisions, decisions....

Personally I'd leave it and move other pieces away from it if possible. Then place other milli's next to it.

Growing large colonies and having tabling acropora is part of it. The key is to have wide light sources so that the shadowing in minimized. If you have something like a 8 bulb T5, then everything should be find. If you have a point-source LED, then you are going to need to get a wider source anyway, so might as well use this as an excuse to get after it.

I vote leave it be, better off there. If you move it down that stylo above it will over take/shadow it, infact it will be hitting that green acro in no time! maybe thats the one you should consider moving

This has been my vision for the past year and I cannot wait for it! I have tried to mount all tabling Acro lower with bushy acro in the middle, and stags along the top to try and help with shading, etc. I mounted the Milli awhile ago and wasn't thinking when I did so. I will just leave it trim if needed.

I could move the Green dragon. However, where is the question? Anybody have a suggestion? See pictures below for my tank and the actual mother colony from the tank this was taken from for idea of growth pattern.

live life on the edge. Let things grow into each other and watch the interactions, it's fun. Things don't die off nearly as much as people make it out to be, well not all of the time.

Lol. I like it!! Just a little worried with the milli. I feel that it will go on a war path against the almighty green dragon.

I was thinking of adding two t5 bulbs to my lights. I have (4) blackbox LEDs and there isn't room for the t5s. They have really good spread. Do you think they will be ok once everything starts to really grow in?

So it has been two months now and I left her be. I added 2 Blue+ T5s a week ago and cranked up my LED intensity. This light hog is going to start taking off now. My concern is for the pieces I circled. I plan on leaving the Milli for now unless it becomes an issue. Should I just trim the front of it if it starts to shadow the lower pieces?
