Should I remove this sponge underneath my hammer corals?

This hitchhiker sponge has been getting pretty big and now moving really close to my hammers. Worried it may compete for the space.

I would remove it just to be safe. It should be easy, just use a soft toothbrush

i would be worried if it creeps up to the tissue. you could also cut off those dead branches as well.
