Should I reposition my ricordea?

Have a couple ricordea that were near each other at the base of a rock. I had hope of them growing/splitting up the rock but I’m thinking I may need to move my orange guy. The green ricordea lifted itself up a little last night and moved closer to the orange one. Before I was having trouble getting the green one to open completely and lay flat but it is now acting like it wants to but my orange one has started to suck into itself a little. Any ideas?

I’ve noticed that. In my old tank I had them on rocks no issues. Only ever had this problem after moving them to the sand. Thought it may have been the green one reaching for light but since it just moved a couple inches it was probably the flow of just bad sand positioning lol

You could move another rock next to the orange one, to coax him if he feels crowded.

Elevate them to lower third of tank. Thet are easily irritated by sand and need moderate light why they may have climbed. Moderate flow as far as water movement

You can. They'll generally move if they're not happy where you've placed them though.

Gotcha! Is there a way to determine “flow?” I’ve been in salt for about 4 years and this term always confuses me. My current pump says flow rate is about 1,050 GPH but if I were to throw my MP40 in there around a 1,050 setting it would go crazy.

i know flow will be different in different areas but is there a good way to judge this?

Its should have gentle movement to keep waste off of it but not flow thats causing it to bounce all around.
