Should I scrub new tank uglies?

Kinda in a snow storm and was bored. Would it hurt to scrub some brown tufts of hair algae off the rocks and turkey baste the rocks and or magic erase the glass and overflow. Or just keep hands out and let it do it’s thing

Manually removing as much algae as possible and blasting stuff of rocks is alway a good thing IMO, cleaning the glass with a magic eraser would be for your benefit and have very minimal impact on tank.

I scrub the front glass regularly. For newly cycled tanks I will scrub the back glass, overflows, and returns when they looking really bad with a tank only dish brush. IMO do not scrub the rock on a newly cycled tank that was started with reef saver or dry rock, It is ugly but it is building the periphyton layer and scrubbing it off is just going to delay the maturing process. You can blow it out with a turkey baster with no issues though. If its old established and encrusted rock you can gently brush it and blow it out no issues.

Manually removing the hair algae is an ongoing chore --- but needs to be kept up. Can' hurt plucking it off the rocks.

I did try to scrub some of it. Most of the brown tufts did not come off easily. I cranked up my 40s on 100% and stirred it up. Instantly killed the foam production on the skimmer
