Hi all,

I have an acro mounted on an angle. It's on its original shipped frag plug. Should I worry about securing the base as it grows outward will it eventually tip off the base? I don't see any encrusting downward over the plug. Maybe it will?

Thoughts? Thanks!

That is an Anacropora, not an Acropora (try saying that 10 times fast :) ). They do not encrust. You will need to secure it to keep it in place.

Also think of placement in relationship to other corals as it grows. Leave plenty of space around your corals for growth so they don't crowd eachother.

True, once established this is an incredibly fast grower. It also does not require extremely high lighting. The best way to secure it is to remove it from the plug, and glue it into a hole in your rock, but it should be on top of the rock not the side as eventually the weight of the colony will either pull it loose, or just break it off as it will not encrust.
