Today I purchased the mushroom coral in the picture. It is on a frag but the frag is so tall that I do not think it will be able to attach to the rock and I do not have another hole to stick the frag in. What should I do. Should I revove it from the frag?

Get wire cutters and begin at the base of the plug working up, it will chip away. When up to the last gluable rock nub holding the frag, just glue the chip into place holding the frag

Thank you! Is that better than taking the mushroom off? I will try to find wire cutter

When I first started out I used to put the whole frag in my tank like your thinking.

Then I decided it didn’t look natural.

So whenever I add a new coral with the attachment, I leave it at the bottom of my tank for a few days/week to acclimatise to my water/lights.

Then I take it out, use a small screwdriver/hammer if needed and chip the frag off and then put that back in the tank to it’s final place with marine butty.

Thanks to both of you for your advice!

This is much better. I cut the bottom off the frag and it fit perfectly. I think that the mushroom will eventually spread over with time. Attaching a picture. Thanks for your advice.
