I’m not sure what happened but a couple months ago my trachy started losing flesh. After a few iodine dips and moving it to a lower light area the tissue loss has stopped and it appears to be growing back.

However there’s this chunk of skeleton that must be dead as coralline is growing over it. Should I trim it off to keep it healthy or leave it alone?

Aesthetically I can live with it, if the new tissue will just grow over top eventually. However if the old skeleton is inhibiting growth and recovery then I’ll go clip it off.

@ChumminghamsReef I remember seeing a vid with you talking about something similar, any advice?

Not inhibiting anything as long as it doesn't become a place for detritus and food to settle and for nuisance algae to grow. I would leave as long as everything looks good so as to not risk injuring the coral by cutting the skeleton.

Yeah it’s in a good flow area, I’ll probably just leave it be then.
