Should I try and save it or is it a lost cause?

I just received a watermelon Mushroom coral, that had detached from the plug. Is this beyond helping it or should I try and save it? Will it do more harm to my tank than its worth?

Not as bad as a all the way melted coral, this is the 2nd time this seller has sent this same coral. It did have a slit smell to it when I opened it.

Alot of shrooms detach during shipping. How does it look in the water?
Was it floating in cup? If so I've never had one float

It was at the bottom of the cup. It looks like its melting away with long strands of flesh melting off of it.

Like chunks of soft flesh is falling off or guts coming out of its mouth?
If its guts its normal for shrooms to do that when they are highly stressed.
If its chunks of flesh coming off definitely a bacterial infection

Whenever I get a mushroom that just shipped its always shriveled up, sad looking, and letting stringy mucus off thats all normal.

I’d put it in qt and monitor it .
it might be ok ......

When time to attach again,
Tie it to a piece of rock with a loose elastic

Yeah shrooms can also slime when stressed.
As said above if you have qt id put it in there and observe it for a cpl days.
If you have cipro on hand 125 mg disolved in a half gallon system water and a 2hr dip kept at temp would be best practice anytime you get a new shroom.

Slime not abnormal. Attach to a piece of screen or rubble rock with a Very loosely tied rubber band

Chewy sells it without prescription.
You may or may not need it here but always good to have on hand.
Its most likely the shroom is just stressed as said by others.
I like to dip all my new shrooms in cipro as part of dip regimen.
Low flow low light area on rubble is how i acclimate my shrooms. I dont even really look at them for 2 weeks and just let them get used to my system.
