Should I upgrade to a 40G Breeder?

Hello All,

I currently have a Biocube 32 bone stock that has been running for about 18 months. I have had success keeping my fish happy as well as a few easy corals. I'm currently considering upgrading to a 40G breeder with a sump. I like the idea of more room as well as tank accessibility. I'd also like to add more coral and fish. Will it really be that much of an upgrade or should I just stick with what I have?

Current fish I have are -Pair of clowns, Diamond Goby, Watchman Goby, Cleaner Shrimp plus a CUC.

Depending on sump size you can almost double your water volume and that alone will increase stability.

I say go with the biggest you can fit with space and budget in consideration.

While the 40 breeder is a great tank (and what I'm currently running) I'd recommend jumping up to a 75. Its essentially the same footprint only a foot longer 48x18x21 instead of 36x18x17

The 40 offers more flexibility if you were going to drill it for an overflow and sump. If that's what you want to do, then do it for sure. Its more of a project to put it altogether that way, which a lot of people like. But if you're not planning to do any of that, then no I say it's not worth your time.

Btw, I have a 40 breeder drilled with a sump and all that. I prefer that over an AIO.
