Hi guys, my old powerhead wasn't putting out as much flow as I'd like, and upgraded it slightly to one with more power. (Jebao OW-10 to OW-25). The 25 seems to be more than enough flow even at the lowest setting, so I'm wondering if I should even use the OW-10 in the tank as well, or just go with the one OW-25. Where I have it placed currently, it's getting good flow to my guys, and even creating a little surface wave (vid included).

Let me know what you guys think. Also, I may need to move some things around, so feel free to comment on guys that may need less flow/more flow than where they are currently placed. Open to all suggestions. Thank you!

It is always good to have a few powerheads in a tank at a lower flow. The multiple powerheads causes the water to be turbulent and not consistent.

With a controller you can mimic nature. I had 4 power heads in a 29gal (i just removed one to reflect the more open aquascape).

Tides flow back in forth with variable degree of water movement. You have slack (little to no flow) at high and low tide. Then flow builds up to be quite strong as the tides change.
You also have wave action that varies with the weather.

Right now I have the pumps alternating in 2 hours periods (I might change that back to 6 hours). with period of left to right,. right to left, all off, and all on. The all on is to kick up the detritus so it gets filtered out.

If you don't have an apex, hydor sells a basic wave maker for about $70 or you get get two house timers . fwiw I picked up an apex classic used for a fraction of the new unit on R2R
