Hey, I’ve had a diatoms bloom which has caused algae galore. My phosphates are still high at 0.50.
over the last couple days I’ve had 5 snails day out of the blue.
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
0 nitrate (because I used a reducer and it worked to well)
1.026 salinity
Temp 78.

the sand is brown during the day.
the rocks are covered in a green and brown layer I can blow off with a turkey baster but it just comes back.
I am using rowa to bring the phosphates down. Should I try something else like vibrant or anything else. The algae seems to bother some corals as it’s growing close to it. Also developing green hair algae.

My tank is 3 months old and used vibrant. After 1 week 90% of the brown algae I had is gone and my coral/fish are doing great!

I recommend it.

Tank is 6 months old. I understand an ugly stage I just am wondering if I can fight back before it gets real ugly.

Your nutrients are really unbalanced. Dose nitrates and you'll see your phosphates drop.

What CUC do you have?
This can make a big difference.
I had brown algae growing all over the place, put in my Yellow Eye Kole Tang and it is now all gone.
I understand Hermits and other Crabs will eat turf algae.

I used Vibrant in my Nano and it worked but when I reduced the dose I had a red cyano outbreak that I could not get rid of.
I did a poor job of scrubbing clean a rock my BTA came on and also got Aiptasia.
So now I transferred out the livestock and sanitized the tank with bleach and will restart in a few weeks after curing everything.

I found it very useful over time in my two 7-gallon nano tanks. It is not a miracle-potion, but if you go slow and steady I think you will see very nice improvements in your tank. I dose every Sunday (i.e., once a week) as maintenance.

i only have. 20g so unfortunately a tang is out of the question. I have hermits and snails but for some reason I can’t figure out a bunch of snails died. Only 2 or three left.

Reduce your nitrates and phosphates...remove the problem and avoid adding a foreign component might be a good suggestion. Water changes, GFO and good quality carbon. Maybe add algae if you have room in sump? Good luck.

Nitrates are 0
Using rowa already
I do water changes on time weekly. Maybe I should do a small one in between

I was dosing it twice weekly for a while to get rid of a horrible hair algae problem. It worked, but took time and patience (about 2 months). I very slowly backed down the Vibrant dose after the algae started dying off. I also had brown stuff on the sand and the start of diatoms or dinos (stringy stuff with bubbles on the end). My sand is pure white now. I didn't see any issues with my fish, inverts, or coral. I dose in a high-flow area. I am currently dosing Vibrant every two weeks and plan to continue it. Good luck!

I used it on a tank over a year old with hair algae. Worked like a charm. Really amazing stuff.

If your snails are dieing and the brown sand algae goes away at night and isn’t as bad in the morning you may want to look into if you have Dino. I have heard conflicting reports on the effect of vibrant on Dino. For me Your parameters and descriptions point to Dino, I’d definitely look into it before dosing.
