Just wondering if my rocks need to be up higher, Ive seen some people on here with tanks that the rocks are just packed in almost to the top.

Try to picture your tank with mature, full size corals when you're deciding how high to go.
If the rocks are too high, and the coral grows well, they'll hit the surface.
This could be detrimental to the coral plus leave no space for fish to swim.
I agree with ReefRy. Your tank looks nice.
When the softy on the left side grows it should fill out the open space with room to spare for water flow and fish to swim.

I'd say it's personal preference like the others, but would add that "it depends". Do you plan on adding more coral/etc. that requires more light or more flow?

If you're rocks were higher then you'd have places to put coral closer to the lights and more in line with the powerhead flow.

Really all depends on what you want to do with your tank.

Totally depends on the look you're going for. If your putting anything on top of the rock keep in mind how its going to grow, what sort of par is around that level, and depending on the coral what sort of flow. Just from your picture it looks like a great set up as is!

Up to you, of course. Personally, I much prefer an open aquascape and really dislike those packed tanks. No matter how open initially, it’s hard not to end up packed LOL.

depends on what you want.
I always go high in specific areas..... like out of the water high.
I don't like looking at overflows, returns, heaters, flow pumps, chords, etc;
and there are many low growing corals that won't grow high enough to break the surface. and two of my bta's have decided they like being at the surface.

Leave room for growth. I wanted the tank to look full from the start and now I’m regretting it. I now know what to do when I upgrade. Lessons learned the hard way lol

LOL no idea, it came in on the live rock, and it just grows and grows. But on the other hand, I cant keep zoas if my life depended on it LOL
That’s amazing! I got some at the beach but I think it was already did since my tank is full of good stuff to help it grow. Idk why but my Zoas don’t do well either... probably need more water changes hahaha
