Hello, I’m not sure if i should be concerned about this. Check out the pic. A single polyp that appears to be missing, not just retracted.. or maybe it is. But the skin also looks pale around the missing polyp. The rest of the coral looks great, the rest of my SPS look fine too. Any thoughts? Thanks

What else is in the tank? Looks like something has been picking at it (that is if we are looking at the same thing). Can you circle the area in question?

Here’s a zoomed pic. I’m not sure how to circle

I’m sorry I should’ve been more specific. I attached a zoomed in picture of the spot. There appears to be a missing polyp with a little RTN around it. That picture was from last night and it doesn’t appear to of been spreading this morning. I have a few Emerald crabs in the tank as well as various snails and blue crabs for cleanup crew. As for Fish, I have one Anthias, 4 chromies, two clown fish , and a six line wrasse . My parameters are all stable, not sure what’s going on here or if I should worry about it. I have put a drop of superglue on RTN Areas before to stop the spreading and I’ve had a lot of success with that. But I don’t want to go that route and less I need to. Thank you for any input.

I would just watch it (and the rest of your coral) at this point. If it starts to spread or show up elsewhere then I would start looking at possible causes.

Seeing how the rest of the coral looks healthy, and the location of the affected area. I'd say a little Emerald crab nip is likely.

I kinda thought it was an emerald crab snacking. I’ve noticed them swinging from my SPS like monkeys in the trees.

If it's a one off dont sweat it, if you notice more of the same on that one and others then you can start sweating it till you find the culprit, my bet is on some type of crab nipping it. If it seems to spread give it an iodine dip. Most likely it will heal up on it's own quickly.
