...sigh.... I've created a monster. I talked my wife into taking the salt water plunge with me several months ago and we are loving it. We went with a 210g reef tank and I've learned so much and really do enjoy seeing our small eco system develop. Of course, we bought everything new and have well over $12K into this new hobby but we feel it was worth every penny. I pretty much handle all the maintenance and wifey enjoys doing the research on which fish/corals/inverts we should introduce into our system. Last night I was looking online for a better used refugium light when I stumbled upon a guy with pretty much the same setup we have (180g) and he's selling everything for $2K. I was thinking about buying it all and integrating as many of his fish and corals as possible with ours and reselling the tank/cabinet stand and top. I would keep all the equipment to either upgrade what we have or have it for spares. Wife had a different idea.....she wants to setup his tank in our house and just move it from his place to ours. I guess I'm looking for some advice or info on;
- how big of a headache is this going to be?
- what things do I need to be wary of if I integrate his inhabitants with mine? I'll list his fish and mine below...I'm worried about mixing tangs
- anyone out there have multiple big tanks that wouldn't mind providing some insight as to what I should expect if I take this on? How much more work is 2 tanks vs 1?
- any and all comments are welcome.....

My fish (all are young/small);
- 2 pair of clowns
- midas blenny
- flame fin
- coral beauty
- flame angel
- powder brown
- Melanarus wrasse
- 2 clown gobies
- sailfin
- neon engineer goby
- orchid dottyback

His fish
- 8" blue tang
- 3 x 4" yellow tangs
- 6-line wrasse
- mated pair of clowns
- 3 pajama cardinals

It depends how much more you want to spend and how much you can automate everything

I have 2 large tanks, including a new very large one, but I planned everything especially automatic water changes and basically apart from changing media every few weeks, I have nothing to do, well apart from cleaning the glass as well.

Infact I now run both tanks and do less maintenance than I did with the Red Sea S650

Live stock may be a different issue, has he had diseases etc

Nice retired guy. He really hates to part with his setup but he's moving in 3 months and must do so. His tank is well established with some very nice coral growth and he said that he hasn't had any issues with diseases, but I obviously have to take his word for it.

I've got an apex on my 210 and will go see his setup tonight to see what all he has.

...thank you for taking the time to reply....
