Tangs are probably one of the worst topics to talk about, however here’s what I want to see your guys’ opinion on, Should we truly keep these fish in groups of the same species? I’m curious to see what you guys think, also yes I know there are some species such as the convict that are exceptions but overall here’s what I think:
mixing several of the same species of tang together will just end with dieoffs one by one. i say this because when we look at groups of tangs in the wild, they’re never in 2-3 and there’s always Atleast 20 if not in the three debit numbers. And even then they don’t have a specific hierarchy that we know of, it’s more like they tolerate eachother then just go and split into smaller groups to breed.
Also, when we say things like “Happy as can be” is this really true when it comes to the larger more pelagic swimming tangs such as Acanthurus mata or Acanthurus fowleri?
