Here’s mine all controlled with apex
Looks great. I have 2 of the A150 kessils I could incorporate if I could find 1 more AI Vega

@MikeCizzle what is the light fixture (sockets only?) did you use? i was trying to find such. also I am in the middle of dilemma, either going for Hybrid or kessel only. your opinon?

Hmm, maybe it’s just me. To me, those T5 ugly round tubes (although better than the standard fluorescent) connected to flimsy sockets are turn offs... especially for the rimless tanks. I am still using it but if Jessel is enough, I am willing to give up T5. But performance matters ! Hence a dilemma.. trying to use 2 k700 over 4x2’ rimless starfire tank.

4x24w sunlight supply fixture with 6 blue Acro strips between the bulbs. 4x 20k strips and 2x 14k strips. This is going over my frag tank on a new setup.

Hello. I used 2 of the Miro-4 T5 HO retrofit kits. They come with everything needed to install and wire. I too don’t like the way T5 looks but they do help with coral growth. To me T5 offers more coverage then LEDs. But LEDs really help with color. I only run the T5 for 4hrs. The Blue LEDs run for 10hrs and Full Spectrum for 6hrs.

I have 2 different ones I have Made.
1. Over my display:
and 2: over my growout.

Both are ati t5. display has lumileds on either side and the growouts have china box and a blue strip mounted.

Here is my build for a floating canopy with led/t5 combo. It came out pretty well, it's over my 90g

How did you mount your black boxes? I know they usually have the strings on top. And also, how did you mount the floating canopy to your wall? I’m in process of doing this.

I just added 2 x 39W T5s to supplement the 2 x R420R 120W LEDs I have over my 120G. They added a LOT more light than I expected.

Where did you get the t5 ballasts? I am looking to add these to my custom canopy with my 400 w metal halide.

Here are a few pictures of my hybrids that I built. The 4 bulb sunpower is over my frag tank, I gutted 2 bulbs and installed LED's in place of them. The bigger light system is on my 120g DT.

I am a doit myself kinda guy as well. I would like to add 2 high output t5 ballasts to my set up. Can you point me in the right direction for hardware?

This thread has been great. I am looking on adding 2 48" T5's to my 135gal as a supplement to my LED's. My tanks is 6ft but due to the overflow placement the display area is really only 5 ½ ft maybe a little less. This is my current light setup, its nothing fancy its those dsuny lights which my lps and softies seem to like. I want a better spread of light in my tank and thats the reason i want to add the t5's.

Have you looked into getting single T5 fixtures from a hydroponics store like HG supply? You can get a pair of single 4ft T5 fixtures for under 80 bucks and a pair for 2ft fixtures for under 40... Just need to replace the bulbs with ATI/Geissmenn etc. Since they are single T5 no need for ballast just straight cord into outlet. Then just need a timer or Apex for lighting schedule. I added them to my Radions and couldn't be happier. They are controlled by my Apex.
So it’s possible to use thc grow fixtures on an reef tank?? It will be hanging not inside of a canopy
