They are one of my favorite fish, but I would like to give it another try when I'm older (graduated highschool, then university, probably once I get a job or get into medical residency. Or finish law school. We'll see what the future holds. Either way I just want large tanks

As long as you have a LARGE supply of copepods in your tank, you are good. But I personally would wait at least 6 months, but more is always better. So maybe 9 months. Whats your tank size?
Right now my tank is going on 3 months and my tank size is a 120 gallon with a 30 gallon sump
Oh yeah if you added pods to your tank right now, waited maybe 3-4 months, you would be absolutely set for a mando.
True but depends if you have other fish. No wrasses and other pod eating fish. Make sure you actually SEE a constant supply. And I really recommend reef nutrition pods. Start a pod culture or fuge. Make sure you are doing something, culture or fuge in a tank that large. Would be quite surprising if you didn’t have a wrasse since they are so pretty like mandarins. But mandarins are slow eaters is they would definitely lose to a wrasse. Not true actually, but the pod population would go down really quickly with both eating pods. So, either run a fuge or culture, or dose pods and phyto in the tank every day for phyto or every other day in a tank that big to feed the pods. AND for pods, you should look at the pods, usually you will find some near the bottom corners or top corners of the tank, turn lights off and use red lights to see them. If you see some and not a lot I’d definitely recommend adding more. Reef Nutrition forever!! And use reef nutrition phyto, best thing ever, corals love it too. So just spray it in front of a pump or wave pump. Anyway, going back, pods should be released every week or other week depending on what you see in the tank.
