I am considering making the jump to LED and I really like the Maxspect Razors, All I want to see in this thread are pictures of systems with their Maxspect Razors. I don;t want anyones opinion on why I should go with something else. My ideal shot I am looking for is a mixed reef with some SPS, LPS, Sofites, Clams, Montis Etc. A 48 long by 24 deep (I'm a 90) and I would like to see 1 with only 1 160w 16k and one with 2 120w 16k. I am thinking about going 120 x2, but I want to see the difference and how the lighting compares to my 2x250 Phoenix 14k and 2 2x54 Ati Super Actinics. Here is a pic of what my lighting looks like (only exception to my rule)

I can say that I would go with 2 over your tank. I have 1 160w over my 40 breeder and I need to have it 10" off the water to cover the entire tank from corner to corner. That being said, even at that height it is plenty of light. My tank is mixed LPS, Softies, 6 anemone's and a clam. I will also say I love this light and it is a great choice. I endlessly looked and researched and always came back to the Maxspect. You can't beat it for the price.

I have a 27" over my 45g 36" tank. I just purchased a 90g reef ready and I've done all the measurements, you will need 2 20.5's. They now have connector bars so you can connect the 2 units in the middle with a 6' space between. I also looked into getting one of the new razor nano's that will be coming out later this month and connecting it to my 27" but I would wind up with poor light on one side. Here are the connector bars Maxspect Razor R420R Connecting Rods. I have talked to people from Coralvue and they agree, 2 120's over a 90g. I will also be selling my 27" in the next 30 days or so, if anyone is interested let me know.

I am pretty much in agreement here on 2 120s over the 90. Romebaby, I think yours looks great and your PAR looks pretty good in the corners, but I'm afraid it's mainly the dimensions of your tank that allows that. I am curious to know what your corner to corner measurement is. I bet is about 36 inches based on the look of the 27" over it. I think that there would be too much dark spots and lack of PAR on the sides of a 48.... I do like the Spacer Idea Numsie, what would be ideal is if you could link them with one being a master and the other the slave because programming each one individually is going to be a bit**

My tank is a quarter circle. Front corner to corner is 48". Back to each front corner is 36"

Never mind... I'm an idiot and didnt read far enough

If I had a 90 I would go with 2x 120's. Unfortunately that bumps the price up quite a bit over a single 160. You might consider going with 2x 160 for an extra $180. You would probably have to overlap them a bit - not really an issue because they are so thin. You would get some killer par and if you ever get a bigger tank you would be all set.

This was my logic as well. You can't have to much power and it's there quietly waiting if you ever need it.

That might work if you hung them but I think the over lap would look silly and if you hung them side to side you would have light going over the side of the tank. Thats why I thought about getting the nano version Maxspect Razor Nano R420R LED and connect that to my 27". I was waiting for Coralvue to get back to me about that possibility but the guy from Fragtastic Reef said they won't fit together with the connecting rods. Bottom line for me is the 2 120's and sell my 160, any buyers out there that can wait 30-45 days?

Using 2 different fixtures really rubs me the wrong way and having them overlap rubs me even more the wrong way.... Sorry, IMO the equipment is just as nice to look at as the display and it would just drive me nuts. Just for giggles I've been looking at radion g2s... but Thats a really big price jump... although also a really big feature jumps too. <-----Oops just broke my own rule :squigglemouth:

I really wish the Maxspect had some connectivity features and adjustable k values it would make the decision a lot easier.

OOOooooOOOO the Mazzara 3 light system looks sick... but for that Money, I should be able to program it from a computer... seems really silly to me.
