This is going to be a two part thread, the other I will post after. I'm looking to turn my Red Sea 525XL ATO reservoir into a fuge. I currently have my sump split off in half and the chaeto has really taken over, which is great, but I'd like the water volume back :)

Just looking for inspiration. Show me your pictures and explain your setup.

Thanks in advance!

I guess so... I know I've read of at least one thread on here where someone had done it. I suppose I will get to work on mine and post pics.

It's a chore but if you dig through the "Show off your red sea reefer" thread you should find a few if my memory serves correctly.

I’m looking into this as well. Tee off the supply or return and drill a bulk head into the ATO and drain back into the sump. All gravity baby! But I’d love to see if someone has done it as well. I recall seeing a pic on here somewhere at some point t I. Time but I could t find it for the life of me. Also I can’t find 25mm pvc fittings

Very interesting idea. I'll have to run through that thread as well. It's only 380+ pages lol

It's a write up, not a video. Very informative if you dare drill you ATO tank.
Oh geeze I’m thinking you found the link to the YouTube video ! It’s been a long hot day mowing the lawn I’ll be ok! Thanks for finding that. I’m willing to give it a try once I set up my other auto top off. Thanks again

I have a Waterbox and I'm considering doing this very thing. It's just such a giant pain in the butt to take the sump offline and pull everything out. It'll likely have to wait for "annual sump cleanout day".
