Looking good. I use Velcro to keep mine in place. Should I need to replace them, should be easy.

They have worked well for 20 months so far. Screens are a bit rusted now but no big deal. I have them connected to a controller through the usb so it doesn't take an outlet.

Looks similar to the one I found. Question is, will it move enough CFM to cool my 200g? I would plan on mounting them in the sump. I probably have room for one with 4 fans and then another with 3 (for a total of 7). Problem is, the 4 fan model is rated for a 40g tank and I can't find a CFM rating.

To answer your question, it depends. If your room temp is around 81 and you want your tank to be 78, there’s no way that fan will work but it helps.

Here why I know. My ac capacitor burnt and my first floor where my 120 was. The room temp was around 81 and the fans were kicking high overnight and it did not cool it down. It will help to cool down like 1 degree.

Ive been battling high temps as well. Two things worked best.
One - vent fans in my RSR cabinet
Two - I was able to aim of my AC returns towards the tank.
Three- I lowered my AC thermostat by one degree as well.

I keep my AC downstairs at about 74 now to keep the tank around 79. I'd like to bump up the AC a degree or 2 for savings on electric, so I would need whatever cooling I put on my 200+ gallon tank to make up that difference. How many of these fans do you believe I would require to meet that demand...meaning one fan is one unit, not the system with 3 or 4 fans on it. Like l said, I probably have room on the sump to use one of the 4 fan unit's in the skimmer chamber and then the 3 fan unit in the return chamber, for a total of 7 fans.

Obviously, in a power outage where the AC is out, I wouldn't expect these fans to be able to keep up if the ambient temperature spiked to 80, although the first floor of the house probably wouldn't go that high that quickly.

For those of you having trouble with fans failing due to the moisture try some of the Noctua PPC industrial fans. I spray mine off in the sink during my 6 month maintenance and have not had one fail yet in 3+ years.

Absolutly agreed. I use Noctua 24v IP67 2000rpm fans. 24v so I can plug right into the apex 24v accessory port

I just bought a 9 inch with grill that runs on 120v. Plug into the apex to come on when tank temp hits 80.

Neptune Systems already offers a bare wire cable. The pinout of 4-pin computer fans is standard and available online.

No, 1link is not correct. That is the 4 pin cable used for power and communication to Trident, DOS, WAV, etc.

I am talking about the 24v accessory port...the 2 pin one. They sell their breakout cable for $18.
