show me your under tank sump please.

So I am still kicking the idea of a FOWLR down the road.

I am between the RS XXXL 900 PNP system and a custom 300 form Joe at glass cages. there are pros and cons to both but that is a topic for another post.

I would like to see you under tank sump please. I know a few will use the stock tanks but I dont think that would fly with the other half ( assuming I even get permission for this build )

what size is your tank and what sump size did you go with? what would you do differently?

ATM I like the idea of 2X 40 br sumps and having 2X overflow in the tank. ( if I get to do this & go with the 300)

anyone out there running the 44" trigger system trition sump?

I had the 750 ( moved and got the 650P ) so I know. beautiful tank and sump.

I have a 40 breeder with a custom made 20 long sump. Literally a down flow area, a giant refugium (roughly 30-35% of my total water volume once you displace rock and sand) and a return. Has worked wonders for me and currently keeping sps.

I like it a lot for the way It fits in the stand. I have it centred front to back which lines the drain plumbing up and also gives me 5.5 inches in both the front and back to put stuff. I have my uv in the back. The top brace between the refugium and skimmer chamber also lines up with the vertical brace on the stand. This makes it wide open on either side of the brace for easy access.
I do wish that it was a bit taller (maybe 2 inches) and that the return chamber was wider. I only have the pump and level sensors in there and it is pretty tight.

I have a five foot 90 gallon DT with what was purchased as a 40B sump, but found out it's actually a 50B....a couple inches taller than a 40. Two 1 1/2 inch drains in each back corner with the return section in the middle. I no longer run biopellets (center section).

Picture of the filter cup area in the sump that I built. I bought 1/4(6mm) acylic sheets and made the sump.
It has : The sump is 60x24x18
Chamber One: Two 1 1/2 inlets.
Chamber Two: 4 (four inch filter cups) and Reef Octopus skimmer. During feed mode the Skimmer just recirculates water in the chamber preventing pump failure..
Chamber Three: has 20 pounds of ARM,(10 pounds in each basket, along with 1 Brightwell NO3 block.1 Brightwell Bio block and 5 pounds of ceramic rings) In between the two baskets is 10 gallons of bio balls in a mesh bag for easy rinsing.
Chamber Four: There is a 2"x 24" foam block before the next chamber
Chamber Five : has, sulfur and ARM reactor( I built out of two used reactors I bought), an air exchange tower, and a phosphate reactor. Yesterday I added a Aqumaxx Sima 2 with Chemipure Blue..Each of these recirculate water in the chamber they are in during feed mode...preventing a pump failure.
Chamber Six: has a Ecotech return pump, returning water to each back corner of the 300 tank. There is second pump pushing water through the UV which then drains back into the last chamber, so that the Ecotech pump can push water to the 300 display. The reason I did the UV with it's own pump is so that I can control the flow through it and then allow the Ecotech return pump to push the UV water and any other water that comes into the last chamber back to the display. Also during feed mode, the UV will just recirculate the water in the last chamber without going dry... preventing a pump or UV failure..
Alot of research and thought wnet into this sum design....I hope this helps you...

Went back to SeaSwirl with Y fitting discharge. no other flow pumps. Love these Pro- Clear filters but repaired baffle after arrived damaged.

I run a trigger systems platinum 39 under a 4 foot 150. Reinforced the frame with 2x4s and cut a door into the side to slide the sump in.
