SHOW OFF THREAD *Unoffical* Mini Complete Tank Contest

March update:

Moved both mini tanks into the cabinet with my 4g. Evaporation somehow isn't as bad over here. Left is the pnw custom, right is the mct. Also featuring adorable hand towel by @Mhamilton0911 !

Pnw has way higher flow. Dealing with aiptasia over here though.

Mct still struggling with salt creep.. Waiting for the gap & zoas in the bottom left to spread so I get some more color in here.

So I did a rip clean on mine. I had a hard green algea that was all over the acrylic and I couldn't scrape it clean. A little citric acid and it looks new. I kept the filter media wet and after a good rinse I had it filled back up. I have not added sand or the zoa rock yet, in my main tank I had 2 different mushrooms that detached that I had under a mesh cover to get them to attach to little rocks, so I decided to move them into this little tank until I could get them attached back to rocks safely. Once I move them out I'll add sand and the zoa rock back.
Here's a before and after.

Official March Update: still in time! Before midnight here. The salt creep is madness, but the tank does appear to be receding in the diatom/algae fuzz.

Nothing big to report, tank still struggling with salt creep but I've accepted it at this point. Polyps still spreading like crazy, gsp in the lower back left starting to spread a little as well.

This photo was shortly after water change yesterday, so most of the zoas & the gsp were still closed up and angsty.

April update
Tank has turned native. Can no longer manage salt creep. Send help. J/k.
Have pods limpets and some amphipods. They run and hide when I turn on the light. Not pretty but still chugging along.

Late April update. Still doing this tank, although I just realized I missed the 5th deadline for check in.

My tank has been holding 2 loose mushrooms in hopes they'll attach to some rubble I added. I didn't add enough rubble, lesson learned there. Mushrooms attached to the bottom. It's dirty as I haven't cleaned it, just water changes. I'm planning on removing the mushrooms and rubble and adding the original rock structure with the zoas.

I've been so busy with spring cleaning my house and outside and home improvement projects that my tanks have been a little neglected.

You may have more people wanting to start up this after Daniel put his latest post up.
What I am seeing is the MCT has some salt creep issues for many of you. Maybe this new one by PNW helps alleviate that. I just may have to get one.

I will definitely get the live rock to put in. Any cool critters will be such a bonus!

May update: just did a good cleaning and a 100% waterchange. I'm too chicken to scrape off the mushroom that attached to the bottom and move it to my main tank. But I need to one of these days and get my original rock structure in there.

Also its developed a Crack in the display, which is not leaking yet but I canfeel it with my nail so it's a good one. Don't know how that happened, must be from reattaching the display to sump. Either way, it's a bummer.

The detaching & reattaching part is the worst bit of these tanks and the biggest upgrade the pnw offers for sure. I actually hit the point with my MCT where I'm not touching anything in the sump. I'm sure it's disgusting. I'm pulling up all the water from the display to change only. Luckily everything in this tank is okay with living this way.

Yeah, I thought someone else early in this thread broke thiers trying to reattach as well. I've been so careful and have a good method but it happened anyhow. I might upgrade to a slightly larger Pico tank when this one bites the dust. How do you like your lifeguard tank?

It's definitely my favorite of the small trio. I have the 4 but there's also a 2. I upgraded the pump that came with it, the default was really weak

A top-down photo update for mine this time. I have not added anything new or removed anything in quite some time just letting them stay the course.

Using late post mulligan for May. Sorry all no pic at the moment. Can anyone confirm this is still going on tho? Op?

I lost track of which thread I should be posting in... :thinking-face: hope this is the correct one.

Not much to update, combined my two mini tanks into one, hope that doesn't disqualify me. The one was just getting WAY too much salt creep and starting to feel weak like it was going to actually break.

Fixed the snail clogging the overflow problem on the other with a small 3d printed cap to block the access.
