Two 165w LEDs. I have a BTA in there for my clownfish, so they’re running pretty high. Oops.

Here's my Tess! I've had her for almost 6 months now- she's a decent size at 27-28"! I have her in her own tank, aside from a medium-sized BTA and an 18-year old maroon clownfish. Oh, and some black mollies, which I thought she would've eaten by now, but she just ignores them...

I always wanted one but love having fish. I opted for a skeletor eel which has been great.

How old do most of these eels get? My girlfriend gets even more attached to the fish than I do and that is why I try to get fish that normally will get at least 5 years old.

My oldest i had since April 2012. I believe some eels can live 25+ years.

My tank is big enough I have a 4 1/2 foot tank with about 100 gallons. I just want to make sure that I can keep it alive. (And also keep my current inhabitants alive)

What type of eel are you planning to get?

I really fell in love with the ribbon eels (my LFS has 2 of them in his show tank.) But After some reading I think a Snowflake would be a better choice.

I read that ribbon eels are very hard to keep. I have never kept one. Maybe if you can feed live you would have a better chance. Snowflake eels are pretty much bulletproof.

After watching that feeding-video, I can see why high-flow / great filtration must be so important.

Caught this little guy yesterday. He is just about a foot long. I was concerned he could be food for one of the other 5 eels so I kept him in a container overnight and fed the other eels heavy. Decided to remove the larger spotted moray as he kept sniffing around the container. Had a territorial dispute with the smaller spotted and green, he got cut, but he wasn't eaten, yet.

hey mate,They get a huge variety, mullet, sardines, octopus, squid and prawns to name a few, the white eyes eat pellets also
and the big tess ate all his tank mates lol
he doesnt like to share with anyone but his 3 mates

Beautiful! I think that spotted eel eats more than I do and could probably swallow my arm whole. Haha. That's amazing to see them take those fish!
