Is there any hope for me to have a mandarin in a 29g sumpless system? I've always wanted one but I'd hate to watch it starve...

Not unless you're willing to cultivate or buy pods every week. Even if you get them eating frozen it's only a matter of time with these guys bc the eat constantly...

Here are my pairs. The Spotted male, Red female, Red male, Spotted female, the Greens, and the Red Scooters.

I'm hoping that once my 65g is established I'll be able to keep one or 2. Definitely one of the fish high on my list...

Love your mandarin pairs!!
How big is your tank? Did you spotted male and red male ever fight?
I have a fat young spotted mandarin. Once it is older (where i can check dorsal for 'spike' or no spike)---I want to get it a potential mate of opposite sex. Then I would like to add a psychedelic mandarin pair.

All my pairs are in separate tanks. I run six tanks. Spotteds can be hard to tell apart sometimes because their spike is not as large as others.
