Hi friends, I like your plumbing jobs / skills.

I am from Costa Rica. It strikes me that most of yours in USA use reactors of GFO, BioPellets and activated carbon and few use macro algae for example Chaeto. Is there any reason they are more inclined toward reactors?

Dang do you have a tank thread here?
I don't; at least not yet. I've been somewhat of a lurker due to being a newbie in the hobby. This is plumbed up to a 250 gallon display on the first floor of my home about 100 linear feet away. It's been operating Just over a year now and I'm just getting the finishing touches done.

Has anyone tried to stain or paint white sch 40 fittings to get them to match gray sch 80 fittings? The sch 80 are more expensive and I can't find all the parts I need in sch 80 like the sweep 90s.

Bottom of my 400 pushing water through to fish room.

Top of tank plumbing through to fish room 8 Sea Swirls on top of tank. 2 the return water and the other two on seperate closed loops.

Oceans Motions can turn into way too much PVC! This was roughed in before walls were finished to make sure nothing leaked.

Another view of top of the tank and Sea Swirls.

Soffet and crown molding over plumbing and granite on ledge.

Finished with light when I first started up tank, I need to update some pictures but I do have some videos under Pirates Cove 400 on Youtube and Vimeo.

I like Supplyhouse.com for PVC fittings I would recommend there schedule 40 section and Spears Street T fittings to keep your valves close together. Sweep 90's because they are 1/4 the head loss of a standard 90. Street 45s and Street 22.5s to get you around tight spots. Schedule 40 is plenty strong and Speers are quality fittings. Always buy extras as they go fast:)
DUDE, THAT IS A SERIOUS HOOKUP...NO LACK OF SKILLS EVIDENT THERE

Agreed with the comment above. I usually tried several of them before I picked the ones that easy to turn.

Great job everyone!

Lot's of good ideas for plumbing!

I love plumbing tanks. I have evolved from the clear tubing to hard plumbing. Great stuff here.
