Show off your tilefish!

Well, just lost both my purple tiles that I've had since the beginning of the year. Eating will. Always active and liked hand feeding. I upgraded my controller to a new Apex 3. Shortly after it had some hardware issues and I lost control of everything. I had to rig all sorts of ghetto cords to run heaters. Pumps, manually run half of my lights. Two weeks later got the Apex replacement set up and reloaded all 14 modules. Started up my Cor 20 pumps and they went 100% sucking all the detritus out of the sump. PO4 went to 1.0, torches and hammers crumped. You get the picture. What I didn't realize is that my Plank, which normally feeds 3 times a day hadn't been running for 2 weeks. Because tiles are so active they really require multiple feedings each day. Pretty depressing as they were doing so well.

What is the general consensus for number of times a tilefish should be fed? Seen some conflicting info

It depends what you feed. I personally did one feeding however I packed as much nutrients as I could into that one feeding.

I feed mine twice a day rods fish food they seem to like the big chunks

What would that typically look like? I tend to rotate two different kinds of mysis at the moment but not sure where that falls on the spectrum

I feed;
Mussel meat
Mysis
Brine
Krill
Cockle meat
a mix of other frozen
as many nutritional pellets as I can get

Well, I finally found another Chlupatyi and I’m trying again!
Please excuse the bad photo - He’s in hiding currently and only went into the tank a few minutes ago so I don’t have an in tank photo.

One other thing I will say is this guy is maybe 1/2 the size of my first specimen of this species so I may have better luck and likely get a longer lifespan out of him if I can get the things together to make a feeding hole in the lid over slightly lifting it up sooner rather than later.

where from TOP? they got any nice wrasse?

Yeah, I found another and surprisingly it wasn’t from TOP. I found it in a Maiden Head Aquatics nearby - I only got this specimen because I know that the Maiden Head near me is actually good with their fish and rarely show diseases.
I’ll likely be going to TOP next week so I can tell you if he has anything nice in

Tilefish update!
He hadn’t been seen all week but this morning I caught a glimpse of his tail. Although it was slightly chewed so I thought he may be dead… He moved and quite happily swam up in his cave, so I then spot fed him to see if I could get him to settle slightly better (I know I spot fed my previous tilefish and that caused him to see it was safe) so I did and lo and behold he popped his head out which is a start!
It’s been a few minutes and he’s just been sat facing the entrance

Here’s a photo of his tail when I couldn’t quite guess if he was living or not - this photo lead me to believe he was alive due to the gorgeous blue.

And here he was a few minutes after the spot feeding!
