show those 33 extra longs!

Anybody have a 33 extra long? They are the same footprint as a 55 gallon but shallower. That's the size tank I'm working with on my current build for the dining room and I would LOVE to see some already mature. Apparently, its a really odd size because I cannot find any examples of them anywhere. Not even in some of the other forums. If anybody has one....please show some pics!

Nice! Must only be us Minnesotans that like these. Another member in our club has one as well, but it's being used for freshwater right now. I also found one more that was out of Minneapolis. Those are some HUGE mushrooms in there. Is it all softies? Why did you get rid of it? What's the story? What kind of flow did you have? What size sump, what did you use for lighting? Details! I need details!

Cool, I used to do African cichlids for many years. I still have a small frontosa colony. I wanna do a 33 long reef in the dining room because space is very limited and I really can't put my 220 in there. I think it will make a nice reef that will be easy to provide intense light for sps. I just wish others had some examples to show off.

There's later shots of it. I set up the 33 when we were in an apartment, these pics are when we first bought our house and were upgrading to a 135. Was running a couple 150 watt halides over, no sump, just the aqua c skimmer and a hob filter. Softies and lps. Now a days if I was doing one I'd probably just throw an mp10 on one end and plan my corals accordingly, or one on both ends. My main beef with the tank was aquascaping since they are so low and skinny, would be cool to take advantage of that somehow with low areas and some gorgs or sps to stick up.

I'm planning on doing mostly sticks so I'm gonna baste those things in light and blast them with flow. I'm pretty pumped. I'm about to start assembling, so I will be sure to start a build thread when I do.

Well, with all the flow and light I plan to have, I imagine it will be similar to a reef crest environment. Also, I spoke with Adam at battle corals, and he says he runs his system the same way - shallow with high flow and high light. Anybody that has checked out his website has seen how well he grows corals. It works for him, so I'm gonna try to get similar conditions. If I have success, I will eventually build some raceways and start growing mother colonies.

That's true Rev, but I think your build size will be more fun!

However, once this 33 build is done, I will be converting my 220 gallon over to a reef set-up as well. That will be the biggest reef for me so far. My biggest reef up to this point was only a 75. To be fair, it was really only a FOWLER because the only corals were some mushrooms and a few zoas.

I did not set up anything due to health problems, but I actually just started my build back up and yes, it' a 33 long. I love them.

thinking about taking the dimensions from a 33 long and just adding 3 together and getting a custom 90-100 gallon 12 feet long, gotta run it by my parents first wonder what they'd think (; but when you start yours up make sure to make a build thread I'd love to follow along.

Ok guys and gals, life keeps throwing me curveballs and I still havent got around to building my stand. The stand is what my main holdup is. I was just looking at all my gear the other day though, and was thinking maybe I could kick off a build thread with a list and pictures of all the sweet equipment I have for my build. Anybody interested?
