While our tanks can have dozens of different colonies and frags, we all have those few that, in your opinion, are your best piece in the tank. Whether that be a designer acropora, unique favia, or just a leather that has been thriving in your tank since day one. What is your best piece in your reef tank and why?

I'll go first.

Platygyra colony, speaks for itself

Green lobo colony, got this one 4 days ago, didn't think it would survive at first

I have 4 although I’ll class two as 1 (I only fragged it about 20 minutes ago).
First up, hammers. Specifically;
My Orange Hammer which is my most expensive coral I’ve ever gotten at £255 ($320).

And my Bicolour Hammer which was brought as a 2 head frag that was on deaths door 18 months ago. It’s now gotten 15 heads and continues to split.

And number 3 (3&4) is my Chilli Coral. I’ve had a nub for ~7 years (it was a frag but then declined and became a nub about a year ago). And finally found a gorgeous colony a month or so ago.
Well, tonight I fragged it and have 2 colonies and one nub!

Wow! First, that orange hammer is stunning! Second, 7 years! Is that tank 7 years old? Also, do you know the species name of the Chilli coral?

Unfortunately the tank isn’t 7 years however it is 4.5 years (5 in December) so the nub will likely be 8 years in November.
The genus name is Nephthyigorgia but the species name is unknown I believe.

Also got this wilisoni, told you about it last week

Also, I have these two as my main pieces of plating coral, my favourite is the green Astreopora on the left :)

Is that @LES profile picture lol

Stunning! Can't imagine how long it took to grow those out
The Astreopora was brought as a somewhat large piece already but has definitely grown more in the last 4-6 months I’ve had it.

The Montipora has been grown from a piece about 1/2 the size it was in the last year or so. But has for sure grown as when I got it, it wasn’t even close to as round as it is now.

Can't really do my red monti here justice without a full tank shot. My green one alas is condemned to a life of encrustation. :)

Though I'm pretty proud of my 18-year old Favia too. :)

You just want to show off your absolutely amazing and well-grown out tank!

Though wow, 18 years! That's some dedication! How long did it take for that monti to grow out?
