Showoff Your.... Chromis?

This is an awesome thread mods please make sticky. Should be chromis PLUS damsels. The two groups are so much alike.
That is a good point! I should have made it Chromis and Damsels, since they are very similar. If only I had gotten the R2R supporter ;Greedy . If anyone has damsels on they want to share on this post they are more than welcome to

love the color of green chromis, just wish they wouldn't kill each other off. Tried shoals of them few times and stopped adding more, now just 1 left and everyone else in tank hates this guy bc he's so fast and eats all the food. :D

I am amazed at how fast my chromis can get going when they want to! During feeding time it is just a blur of chromis darting around the tank. I think a lot of the aggression can be helped by doing frequent feedings but that is just my experience, I am sure some others would disagree

I have 6, but they don't really swim together much. They form up a line across the tank about a foot apart and eat what's floating by. I don't suppose they feel threatened by their tank mates anymore.

I never realized there were chromis other than green. Are they all peaceful?

There are currently 86 described species of Chromis. They vary in size from a inch or two to over 6". Like most other types of fish the behavior of each species may be totally different. This makes an interesting read

Nice read @Haydn, I wonder why only a few species of chromis are popular in the hobby, it must just have to do with the ease of collection of the different species. Before you posted your pictures I had never seen many of the species you have kept.

I like this thread- to keep it going here's a few more pictures

Your chromis collection looks incredible. Where are you buying most of these fish from?

Here's my shool from 2011. I forget how many I started with but the schooling lasted for about 3 years then slowly they would pick off one at a time. Ended up with 5 until the two biggest just died about a month ago so no I have 3 of the original. Interesting the two that just died were 2 to 3 times bigger than the others. Don't know if that was a function of being dominant or maybe different species? They are cool in a group. They would follow me around the tank as I cleaned the glass and do laps as a school when they were young.

Fantastic video but the audio is better muted lol.
Love the tank.

That is an awesome school, the entire tank looks great as well. I am apprehensive for when my chromis start to get older and more aggressive. It seems from a lot of peoples experience its like a flip switches at some point and they turn evil.

I have Four Blue/Green Chromis in a 65 Gallon Aquarium with a Flameback Angel, a Neon Dottyback, and Two Percula Clowns. I found out by Accident that by feeding them Four Times a day with an auto feeder, the aggression went way down.
