Shred5's reefer 250

Okay @shred5 I won't ask you for a FTS but will you give us a list of livestock and equipment for this tank?

No corals right now. I moved them out due to very low nutrients which caused a small dino blooom.

Just a few fish. A Tiger Watchman Goby, Royal Gramma, Purple firefish.

I am looking for a nice wrasse but with the issue in Hawaii they are harder to get.

There is a blue tang that is the size of a quarter that is there till my system in the basement is done. He was smaller than a quarter and was purchased a few months ago.

Not much right now... I will get back to it this fall once I finish the basement aquaculture system which I finally started on.

I really need to get some pictures of at least where I am in the equipment side of things.

I purchased a algae scrubber but might just turn the top off into a fuge.

Oh I forgot to add their are two cleaner shrimp, 4 barnacle blennies, and cherub angelfish.

I have really done nothing since adding the rock, water and a few fish.
The new house and my other build have been taking up all my time.

My other build:
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/s...al-propagation-and-aquaculture-system.462665/

I will get back to this tank eventually. Right now it really is doing really good. I got the nutrients where I want them and now feel that coral can start going in. i just could not get phosphate or nitrate up and corals would loose color. I am added a few test corals in and they are doing good.

I'm kind of letting Sandy handle the tank for now. I maintain it and she picks the coral and fish out. She also decides where they go too. I kind of just guide her, she does have some knowledge on reef keeping.

The only coral in it is still the goniopora. She added some green star polyps on a island so it does not spread and is the only coral added since the last time..
There is a flower anemone but he moved to the side so I can not get a shot of him.

Fish are still.
Royal Gramma, Purple firefish and the small Blue tang. The Tiger Goby died and I did add a Cherub Dwarf Angel.
Also two cleaner shrimp.

I am going to move the tang out soon. He grew very fast. I put him in there because he was the size of a quarter and would have been ripped apart being that small in my other system.
The new system the main tank is a little smaller than it was intended when I picked him up so I am going to sell him.

Really nothing has changed for equipment:

I can get a picture from under the stand . A little messy because I need to do some wire management.

I did pick up a Apex JR cheap so I am swapping out the Apex for my other build.

The only thing ruining off the Apex was the lights and heater anyway.

There is a picture of the equipment panel earlier and most of the equipment I used.

I am using a Reef Octopus main Pump.
I still use a Italian Ultra reef skimmer. Best skimmer I have ever used and I have used allot..
I use Icacap ato.
Still has a Apex on it.
Still using The Giesemann Matrixx T-5 fixture. I love this fixture more than My two ATI fixtures. It may put out slightly less par but way better built and the fans seem to last way longer. Plus it looks much nicer. ATI is still a great fixture too.

dosing system not added yet because there is very little coral.

I am going to turn the top off container into a fuge with cheato this winter.

I will try and get a pic of the sump this weekend.

Here is a pick of the new top off container in the side cabinet.

Innovative Marine AUQA Gadget HydroFill Ti Auto Top Off ATO Reservoir.

So easy to fill with the drawer pulling out.
Highly recommended.

Weird it did the pic in a different post:

IKEA.. They match the stand almost perfectly. They are just not as shiny but the color is exact.

I mail ordered them from Ikea, They come in different configurations.

I ordered them a long time ago but looking at their site it looks like it is the Eket series.

@shred5 I might get one of those IKEA cabinets just to house my electronics. I'm also thinking a RS Reefer 170 stand-only for electronics and to store stuff inside. It would be sturdy enough to put a 25 gallon (400 pound) white plastic tank on top for water station (ATO and salt-mix).

Ok just wanted to let people know this thread is coming back alive.
With my other build this really got put on hold.
I had thrown a few corals in this tank to hold temporarily while my other build was getting done and my quaratine tank was done.

All corals where dipped but I did not put the corals on new disks and some nasty bubble algae and these really bad vermetid snail infested the tank. Since it was just a few corals and a few fish I just decided to dry the tank and rock and start over and give it the attention it needs.

I also did not want any chance of these getting into my aquaculture system some how...

Also the cement used did not hold so new aquascape too..

Well I decided to go bare bottom and ordered some starboard for the bottom of this tank...
I should be cutting it this weekend and doing the New rock structure.
Pics to come...

@shred5 glad to see you've picked up this build thread again I've been following it for some time.

I know that is because I moved on to my other build:

The first phase is mostly done on that system.. There are more phases but until I fill the first one not much sense moving on to the next. Also lost my breeding clowns (jumped before the top was on) so now the fish aquaculture system can wait a bit so back to this build.

Alright I got the Starboard installed.

As far as most of the equipment it is staying.
VarioS 2 as main pump..
The Ultrareef Skimmer which has been fantastic.
Two XF-230 Gyres.
IceCap ATO
Innovative Marine AUQA Gadget HydroFill Ti Auto Top Off Reservoir
The only thing is I may remove the Apex it is only really running the heater and lights.

Basically just a new rock work and bare bottom with starboard this time.

Where'd you purchase the ultrareef skimmer? I cant seem to find a dealer anywhere aside from EU

I do not think you can anymore. I know you can order direct from them still...
I was talking to them about another skimmer. It is a great skimmer and one of the best I have owned. It skims as good as my ATB skimmer did but is built way better. I know others have ordered direct too and shipping was not bad at all...

Thinking bout trying em out. I love AtB and RE but theres little things about em i dont like. Also tried Deltec and Aquamaxx so hoping the UR nail it.

might talk to
