Hi, Im new here but my friend is an expert on tropical fish and aquariums couldnt answer a question I had so he suggested this site. I live on a remote tropical island called American Samoa. I catch fingerling size travale by the hundreds and I dry them, shred them into granules with a food processor and feed them to my fish. I also have tons of banana leaves that I dry and cut up and add to my fresh water shrimp tank. My question is, "Is dried granulized fish the same thing as the flaked fish food you buy in the store or is their additives and other ingredience added. Is shredded dry fish enough or do I need to sumpliment the diet? If banana leaves are good for my shrimp, would they be goo dfor my fish if i also put them through my processor.?? Of coarse the answer will vary on the type of fish. But could we say in general for reef fish? Thank you in advance for considering an answer. Tim J

Hi and welcome to R2R Timothy,

You had me a American Samoa. No your dried fish is probably better I would think than our average flake is. I do not see an issue with supplementing the diet with the shrimp.
