Now that our labordoodle puppies went to their new homes this morning I can refocus my time on the tank.

Ready to start the cycle but I have never had one this big or one with a sump. I plan on shrimp and Dr. Tims but I'm not sure how many shrimp it would take for about 170 gallons. How long to leave it/them in? Can I place them in the sump for easy retrieval? The 36 gallon wasnt near as intimidating as this one. Recommendations?

I believe Dr Tim likes his shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce with a good amount of horseradish in the sauce

Funny, I like it that way too! I might have to buy extra! Lol

You can just use Dr Tim’s and one small (dead) shrimp per week or so. That’s how I’d cycle a tank. :)

Dose Tim’s first week, then again the second week. Overdose is OK.

Thank you! I appreciate the advice!

Have time for a dumb question?

Is this the right stuff, never used it before.

Thanks, I was second guessing myself. I didn't realize Walmart carried it and it was so cheap I jumped on it. On sale for $5.07 a bottle. I bought 30.
