I really want to get a shrimp and goby pair but i would like some help from you guys. First of all how deep should my sand bed be ? Second, what kind of gobies and shrimps pair up. And last which ones are smaller ? I would be putting them in a 10 gallon.

Sand bed at least 1 1/2 to 2". As for fish/Pistol Shrimp combo, to many to post. You'll have to research and find the ones you like.
My favorite are, Tangaroa Goby/Randall's Pistol :)

Well it's simple, "Shrimp Gobies" are those that pair up with shrimp!

I like the Tangaroa and Randall combo as well, they're fin is very cool. At my LFS $20-$30 probably.

I want a yasha goby but I saw them on liveaquaria and theyre pretty expensive, I think that and a randall are like the perfect match. same colors and everything its pretty neat :)

Tangaroa Goby's get about 2 1/2-3" max. Very cool lil fish. Simply loved the way mine interacted with his shrimp. I literally watched him spit/feeding pellets to the shrimp. I will be getting another pair soon :)

Thats pretty small i would say the only thing is that my sand bed is pretty low. I would say its about and inch to an inch and a half max. I sucked most of it out because i had a diatom outbreak and thats why its so low. Do you guys think it's possible to add sand to my tank even though i have my clown in there ? Would it kill him or mess up my cycle ? Or parameters

Added a little at a time, very well rinsed if not live and you will be fine. Just don't go stirring up your present sand bed.

I gotta ask. Why would you suck out the sand because of Diatoms?

I would get a tiger pistol, I've always had better success with pairing them than any other type and they usually ship a bit larger than other pistol species ime. Pic whichever goby you like!! As long as the shrimp burrows.. Gobies use it lol I've had a trio of barred scissortail gobies pair up with tigers or atleast occupy the same burrow system, I would also say stay in the shallow. Sand category but push to. 2.5 or. So. Inches and make. Sure all your main support rocks are directly on the glass!!

Im really really liking how the randall shrimp and yasha goby look together so i think i will be saving up for those but i initially wanted a tiger pistol. Idk depens which is easier to get i guess lol

And i sucked out alot of the sand because the diatoms had formed into this hard type of crust thing. And the sand was like stuck to it. So alot of it got pulled off. I really dont know if its the sand that just sucks or it was ment for freshwater ? I dont know if that would have anything to do with it. But ive always had some diatoms here and there. But now i know i have them because all my hermits died and now i just have a turbo snail. So i need to upgrade my clean up crew. Also i have little flow so i know that also allows for diatoms to thrive. So im gunna add a pump to the tank. Hopefully the cuc and pump get rid of them for good !!!

Yes they do compliment each other's colors. They usually ship at 1/2 inch and disappear on me before paired Vs tigers shipping at aBout 1nch makes for a better digger and usually pairs much quickly for this reason! Good luck with whatever u chose over 9 Years in the hobby.. They are my favorite symbiotic pair to watch!! My tiger was paired with a yellow. Watchman for 7 years and the goby randomly died, the other goby in my system (faux Dracula bar goby) movied right in!!

Well that sucks im sorry to hear that. But yeah goby and shrimp pairs are awesome although im a huge fan of clowns lol id rather see my clown host a bta, carpet or torch i think i could look at him swim in it all day :)
