Black Spot disease is a bacterial infection. I researched this several years ago when I had a shrimp show up with it.
Here's some info I got from a hatchery:Spot diseases
Brown spot shell disease, burned spot disease, rust disease, shell disease, black spot disease are the types of spot diseases which are caused by a group of bacteria belonging to Vibrio, Pseudomonas and Beneckea. Maintaining the quality of water within the optimum range, removing the dead and infected shrimps, reducing the stocking intensity, providing good nutritious feed, incorporating terramycine at the rate of 0.45 mg per kg of feed for two weeks, bath treatment using 0.05 to 1.0 mg of malachite green per litre of water are some of the remedial measures suggested to counteract the incidence of viral diseases in prawns.
My shrimp did not die from this. It went away when the shrimp molted. It returned again but went away pre-molt and never returned. It is possible for the shrimp to die from it, but with clean water and care it doesn't have to. I didn't use the treatment they suggest but you can give that a try as well. Copy from another webside.
