Shrimp cycle

Okay, so I put a shrimp in my tank yesterday to cycle because nothing was happening 5 days after I originally started with just live rock and sand. The rock and sand wasn’t enough cause nothing was happening at all with the tests I took everyday. and now, since I added the shrimp yesterday , my ammonia has hit 1.00ppm. I cannot stand the smell. (It’s in my bedroom) and it’s nauseating. how long do I have to wait to take out this shrimp [emoji31]. I don’t want to screw up the cycle. I had to put the shrimp in just to get it to cycle. Pls let me know when I can take the shrimp out or how long it has to stay there. Or any other tips or help. All help is appreciated.

I left my shrimp in there until I couldn’t stand the smell and my wife screaming at me lol and did nothing to the tank but let it run and ammonia kept going up by it’s self
