I got a RBTA about 3 days ago & instantly when I put him in my peppermint shrimp walked to it & ripped off a tentacle & started eating it! I scared him off a few times then he seemed to stop & the lights went out so I just tried not to worry through the night. I only checked a few times through the night & I didn’t see the shrimp & the anemone was closed up. Then the next day I was looking at the anemone & I can’t say for certain but it looks as if the side closest to the shrimps cave his tentacles appear to be shorter on that side as if they have been nibbled on. So now today I looked at the tank & he was partially closed up & the shrimp was behind him .. so I’m accusing the shrimp , & he really needs to go! So I tried for about 2 solid hours to catch him .. I can’t! He will get on my hand but only if I put it close to the rock work & he darts back with little movement. The bottle trick hasn’t worked either, caught some crabs, that’s about it. Soooo pleassse any advice to get this sucker out!?! I’ll be able to sleep better.

I created my own catcher with a small plastic water bottle... basically like this. Took me a while to get it in the right place to get a shrimp I was trying to get rid of.

Yea i tried that not working out for me, it’s like he goes up to the bottle but won’t go in, ive only tried Mysis for bait

How long have you left the bottle in their? I had a similar issue in with a Long Tentacle Plate. I left the bottle in overnight and poof. Both shrimps become one with the sump.

Zack- who doesn’t like peppermint shrimp.

You can try catching them after the lights have been out for a hour or so. I noticed our 3 peppermint shrimp tend to travel around more at night. We have even seen them near the top of the tank on some coral. If you use a net without turning the lights on it should be a somewhat easy catch.

I’ll be sure to try that I’m currently on night shift for the next 2 nights but I’ll be sure to try that Saturday night if I can’t get him before that

& I liked mine he got rid of the little aptasia I seen but his job his done ... he can go now lol .. but I only left it in about 4 hours caught about all my crabs but that wasn’t during lights out
