Hi all,

I've caught these little shrimp in nearby rock pools in Queensland, Australia.

Anyone able to help me ID?
They are approximately 3 to 4 cm, seem to be adults.

Looks similar to palaemon elegans, but I'm not sure because they seem to have different pattern.

I got them on a acclimation box, though due to their small size I'd assume they are reef safe?

Thanks,

Any chance you could get pics of these guys with some white light on them? If not, the closest I know of is listed as a female Palaemon serenus by the link below:

Thanks, they are difficult to spot, i had them in a separate container but since I released them in the tank haha.

It does look similar, I'm not sure if it's the one you mentioned palaemon Serenus or palaemon elegans.

I will try to see if i can get some better photos when I spot them.

i’m on the other side of the world with rather cold water, however we have similar looking ones in our tidepools (colors and patterns aren’t consistent) and they get lumped together as “kelp shrimp” never had luck keeping them since water temp here and in reef tank is vastly different
