Did you feed the tank recently? Usually what happens is the nem catches a piece of food, and the shrimp steals it from them.

Yes I did, that greedy shrimp. Should I feed the nem again?
May I ask what you are feeding it?

EDIT: Noticed you recently joined. Welcome aboard and thank you for joining. Lots of knowledge here. :)

Mine always gives me the sad puppy dog eyes...well more like a cyclops Being a nem and I once in a blue moon will give them a treat. lol

My LTA's enjoyed a sliver of wild caught white shrimp from the deli.

My cleaners will do the same. Thieving little buggers. I do not miss them in the tank where I have corals I feed. I have had them go over and dig food out from inside corals mouths. They try to do it when I feed my LTA but I fend them off with my feeding tongs until the nem has closed up with the food. yes I feed my nems on occasion. Sometimes giving the shrimp food first helps but sometimes even that doesn't stop them. I have seen mine try to pull shrimp out of the mouth of my 30" zebra moray.

Yeah it's pretty normal. Do you have a clownfish? Most clownfish do not like things around their anemone and will defend it. Most will also feed the anemone for you, it's kind of neat to watch a clownfish grab a bit of food swim over to the anemone, spit it into the tentacles and then go back out for more.

Be very careful here, I had to remove a cleaner shrimp out of my last tank as it was ripping food from the Nem's mouth and damaging it. Now when I give my nems occasional food I stand there with the tongs ready to chase the shrimp off if it gets too close until the food is gone.

The shrimp is hanging around him quite often now, not just after feeding time. My maroon clown is hosting in my bta, the oscellaris has ignored everything and seems to be happy just swimming back and forth along the front glass. I will keep an eye on them. I have been feeding frozen marine cuisine (thawed out and squirted in around the tank) and phytoplankton blend (for the corals).

Several weeks? They ignore each other. And I've seen them swim fairly close to each other with no agression from either. If anything the Ocellaris will occasionally nip at the firefish.
