Bought 3 shrimp last week from SW, 2 cleaner and one banded. one cleaner was half dead upon arrival and didn't quite make it after a few hours..came home and found it in my gyre pump. I only saw the banded twice since been in the DT, always in the cave. Woke up this morning and find it in the pump.
Now I have two of these pumps, one is on cyclone type setting and the other on the Arrow setting. Is this pumping sucking these things up alive or they died and then gets sucked in. I dial it down to 70% on the cyclone one.

Highly unlikely it’s catching them. Is the gyre pumps up high or low in the tank?

Okay, what’s your acclimation procedure when you bought your shrimp?

Did you examine to make sure they arent molts? 25 yrs of keeping shrimps and I still freak out everytime I see a molt stuck to my gyre..

Shrimp will shed their exoskeleton as they grow. It is amazing and looks like a whole shrimp. To make things more dramatic, shrimp tend to hide right after they molt.

Examine the remains. If it's a molt it will just be the shell with no meat left.

Yes that's exactly what I see.. The banded has been hiding from I got it but I'm pretty sure the cleaner is dead....
But when I feed the other cleaner comes out

OMG, I believe you are correct. Came home last night just in time as my T5 went off leaving the LEDs on. Dropped some frozen food in the tank made a drink and came back, only to see the coral banded and the cleaner shrimp.. I know for sure the first cleaner is dead but I thought the banded was a goner as well.. Guess it shed its shell
