New to the site not sure how to search yet sorry. I would like to know how many shrimp can go in a 180. Looking to add about 5 skunk cleaners in the long run. I all ready have a blue banded in the tank. Trying to avoid putting crabs in so I want to load it with shrimp. All my rock and sand were dry so no good or bad hitch hikers in the tank, so I don't need shrimp to help control them. Any input would be helpful on how many and how long to spread out interdiction.

Thanks

Kind of confused why you think the cleaners would control the amount of snails and crabs and other things. They don't eat them. The only ones that actually eat asterina stars are harlequin shrimp, peppermint shrimp eat aipstasia hit or miss and that's about it for all the common shrimps in the stores. You'll be fine with having 5 cleaners in the same tank. They aren't all that aggressive towards each other. Just introduce them to different areas of the tank.

No sorry not controlling crabs and snails that was not my thoughts. I ment aipstasia and other hitch hikers because every thing was dead when I started. I have been reading that the banded shrimp I do have could kill other shrimp. I will start with two more and work my way up.

Thanks.

I've kept coral banded with peppermints, cleaner, and blood shrimp frequently without issue.

You already have one shrimp. If it is a banded coral shrimp (of any color) be careful. They are known to bully and eat smaller shrimp, like sexy shrimp and peppermint shrimp. Your tank is larger so this may not be much of an issue. It's best to only have one banded coral shrimp, unless you have a mated pair, or they may fight to the death. Any shrimp added should be as large as possible for the species, to give them a fighting chance, in case your banded coral shrimp has a nastier than normal disposition.
