Just fed my BTA some coral frenzy for the first time and he has shrunk from about 2-3” across to about 1”

Is this a normal feeding response?

How old is your tank?

Tank is 3 months old

Doing more research I see it’s good to wait at least a year for tank maturation..

Guy at the lfs who helped with my tank said I was good to go for one since he deals with the tank on a weekly basis. Starting to second guess his opinion.

Imo most LFSs are there to see you something, not to make sure your tank is perfect for what you are getting. There are exceptions, but out of the 30 FS that are within 100 miles from me, there is only 1 I trust to help me make stocking decisions.

I’ve come to notice.
Sucks because I thought this was the good lfs

Been there, done that. I think most of us have been.

Normal feeding response, maybe yes. I suspect you blasted a tablespoon into the mouth with a baster? When a nem is eating a big meal, it will wrap around the food and retract tentacles as it swallows(?) the food. Feed smaller amounts more often and it will not retract so much.

It should be fine. I found that if you feed them they tend to stay put and not wander as much s long as light and current are also adequate.
