When I first started, I have bought 10’s of different color morph acans, some are basic color with few heads, most are single head rainbow. After having them heads would die 1 by 1 within the 3 month period. And now that my system is more mature I see the acans are plum most of the days, also an acan sprout a head when I thought it was just a skeleton(kinda wishing I just left all the skeleton inside the tank). Anyway, I find that every corals are easier to grow when you see a good amount of corralines growing. (Not just a spot here and there)

My acans were looking beautiful - parameters unchanged but now they're all deflated. Makes me wonder if something isn't getting after them from a livestock perspective.

The tank is at my work, and I work M-F, so I have to do most of my feeding during the work week.

1 week I had tried doing multiple feedings in a week with AB+, mysis and reef roids during different days of the week, but then I started to have what I would call a problem with the water turning like a cloudy white, which from what I had read was like a bacteria outbreak, so I cut back.

So does this become more of a nutrient issue, since my phos and nitrates are at 0? Do I need to look into dosing Nitrates?

Do I think about removing some of my filter media? I currently run the Marine Pure 1.5” spheres, and Mini Chemi Pure Elite. I think I have 8-10 of the spheres in the 2nd chamber along with the CPE.

Seems like a nutrient issue with Nitrate and Phos bc everything else looks good. I think increasing feeding like that week is a good idea, but maybe you went a bit too fast? Both increasing feedings and removing some bio media helps, but choose one option at a time and go really slow. The acan looks a bit sad but it doesn’t look in danger of dying, so you have time to make slow adjustments without shocking the system.

Also wanted to add that they can shrivel for some time if their reproducing(I see the babies), or if their expelling waste(usually occurs during the evening for me).

Just want to emphasize doing one thing at a time. Ie. Adding a feeding day to the week and doing it a few times before adding another feeding day. Hoping it gets back to its former puffiness! :happy:
