You limit your angle of view, forgetting I use a camera and not my phone camera, camera phone flat to the glass and horizontal will give the least distortion and better pics. :)
10 4. Soon as I get tank situated im going to use the front glass where I have rack as picture taking station. Does take awesome pix exactly how you describe. Still have alot of practicing to do. Going to try and grab a pair of coral viewing glasses today as well.

Tried to get more practice in on pictures with these lenses. 20k filter gets the closest but not true color and its annoying. Going to take phone off auto correct tonight and see if I can get color a little more dialed in. I'm probably running closer to 17k.
Also haven't had a chance to get pix in full spectrum either.

Thanks man. Got really spoiled with the top down shots lol. I do think I could balance the shots better manually while I take the pix and probably get real close to actual colors. Really miss the shallow water top down viewing angle but knew I was going to. Just not satisfied haha

Take your time with each pic you want to take unless you just want to shoot nice things quickly. iphone 7 or 8 something. :)
Duncans in high flow. :)

You are my inspiration sir:D Not just kissing bunz either haha
Do you correct balance before you take the picture of after?
Yes I am going to fast. It did take me a bit to get the pictures down in the shallow water tubs but once I did it was a breeze. Its alot harder finding that angle up against the glass flat. Think the rack propped up on angle against glass will get me where I'm trying to go though

I use the same ethos with my camera btw but I have a lot more options to explore before going click. ;)

Ok im going to check out options. There are a ton of options in pro mode on my phone.
I never did find a way to view my pix on display screen on my cam and from what I found its not possible.
But now you have me thinking maybe I can download the software and view pix and dial them in on laptop before I take the shots.

Just got back from lfs and snagged a cpl yumas off not for sale rack lol
They think they are going to hoard shrooms but there can only be one shroom hoarder around here haha
Pure gems. Godzilla has some competition for sure. Ive never seen a shroom colored up like one of them and pix cant do any justice. They are mad from dip but can't wait to see how they settle in tomorrow.
Bright side tank is coming along nicely.
Using .5-1 dkh alk a day.
50ppm of calcium used and dropped my mag by 80 ppm.
I've had a bucket of all for reef sitting in closet i think im gonna break it out. I did notice the fusion part 2(alk) kind of clouded this morning and must be because my calcium is running on low side.

Those are some solid numbers, especially seeing nitrates in the 2nd test;)

Dude yes I was super happy seeing Nitrates show up in her tests. Tuesday was first day I got them to read detectable and was happy they where able to confirm. I'm using red sea and getting barely any color. Feeding 1.5 cubes of food a day as well as ab+ reef roids mix twice a week. I know its in there. But I think shrooms and rock is making short work of it fast. I am dosing 2ppm sodium Nitrate daily on top of that. No algae to be found really. Cuc is making quick work of it as well as shining shoes on my shrooms feet and basicly scavenging every inch of surface looking for food. Going to keep feeding heavy. Im not worried about Nitrates or Phosphates. Plan is get system balanced out around true 5-15ppm Nitrates. .05-.1 Phosphates. Continue to feed heavy but maintain those numbers with ATS.

I don't test so I don't offer advise about nitrates or phos.
If I was nailed down for an answer, nitrates 20 and phos 0.1 as a base target is what I would say including tanks with acros. :)

If im going to be completely honest and I don't care how bad I get roasted for saying it but judging from what I've seen in my tank as it matured this last year and half as well as back in the day. Those are perfectly acceptable levels for any mature tank. If not appropriate;) Tbh your numbers are exactly where my tables settled in.
Another truth. Based on the success of these reefs im following here with sticks. Im not sure id want anything less than those numbers;)
I started with real live rock from ocean. I think it needs fuel to survive

I follow a lot of sps dominant tanks and a lot appear to be moving up from ulns levels, colours are colors (see what I did there) nitrates and phos are needed for health.

Absoloutely. Still trying to wrap my head around it all but to see an actual reef, the fish, the critters, the corals and the life growing on it on every level. There's no doubt that there is an abundance of nutrients being utilized to make that all happen. I see it on my own reef when that occurs!
I think dry rock changed the game and maybe those rules should be applied when using it.
I see my live rock and critters on my real ocean rock not very happy when its not available.
All speculation on observation lol;)

If I had enough money I would set up a fake rock curing set up, maybe 2 - 3 years before selling the "rock", all seeded with my rock, in theory no pest hitchhikers! ;)

You know I got rid of my walt smith fiji rock during this upgrade. It came desolate, despicable and barren. Sat in my sumps and system for year and half and was covered in life when I unloaded it. Def a great idea.
